  • Mountain Spirit relies on community members who are willing to share their time in support of continued construction of homes for low-income families in Park County.  Opportunities to volunteer with the organization are abundant!
  • All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.
  • As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize.  This means that Mountain Spirit Habitat for Humanity will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

WE ARE A CHRISTIAN HOUSING MINISTRY

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 and has been devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing."  The organization is a self-described "Christian housing ministry," and has addressed the issues of poverty housing all over the world.  Thanks in no small part to the personal involvement of U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn and the awareness they have raised, Habitat now works in nearly 1,400 communities across the U.S. and approximately 70 countries and has helped 9.8 million people achieve strength, stability, and independence through safe, decent and affordable shelter.

Mountain Spirit is true to Habitat's founding principles and is committed to the belief that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in

dignity and safety.

Mountain Spirit Habitat for Humanity provides a home-ownership program that empowers families to build a new life for themselves through the stability and security of owning their own home. Habitat homes are not given away but are sold to families who qualify and are willing to make a down payment, put in hundreds of hours of sweat equity labor, and are willing to make a monthly mortgage payment.  Habitat homes are affordable because Habitat does not make a profit, the homes are sold with a no-interest loan, and the homes are built by volunteers.

It's a program that works!
